Truth be told (whether you like it or not), Key Glock is one of the hottest young rappers out today. Ever since his arrival to the music industry back in 206 with his mixtape Whole Lotta Errythang, the Memphis rapper has only elevated with each and every release. It was when he signed to Young Dolph’s (his older cousin) independent record label Paper Route Empire when he really started to take flight with his own flow. With Halloween over and Thanksgiving on the radar, Glizock gives fans something to be thankful for early with the release of his second studio album Yellow Tape 2 — yes, it is just as dope as the first one, if not better.

Yellow Tape 2 is the follow up to Glock’s 2020 debut album Yellow Tape and both of these projects shows the PRE rapper in his element as he floats over each of the infectious beats popping his shit at ease. One of the most unique things about the way Glock moves with his music is that he is anti feature and its been that way since he released his Glock Season mixtape back in 2017. This is a very distinctive quality to possess as an artist because 99.9% of the time, rappers need other artists featured on their projects for the success but this was never the case when it came to Glock and it’s a beautiful thing to see for sure.

In a recent chat with HotNewHipHop, Glock discussed how Chief Keef was an influence for him before he got into the game: “I feel like Sosa set the tone. Chief Keef is probably 3 years or 4 years older than me. Right when he came out, he was like 16, and I was like 13 or 14. He took the nation by storm, and that’s what opened it up for the youth, like oh, this is a youth thing now. This a young n*** world, just switched it up right quick, and that’s still what’s going on right now.”
