J.I.D has treated fans with a brand new music video for “Ambassel,” which is his offering featured on the recent Madden 2 soundtrack. The video spotlights the East Atlanta ‘playboy’ — and former high school and college football star — at the famed Mercedes Benz stadium, home of the Atlanta Falcons. The title “Ambassel” refers to the Ethiopian district of the same name. It is an Amba, or mountain fortress, relating to JID’s raps about being untouchable:

Born in the day, the dawn of the dead, I don’t see nothing but red/ They gather the blankets, the milk, and the bread, I come from the east and I’m traveling west/ Got a machete, I chop and I chop at the neck of the serpent, determine the plot and the threats

It ain’t no stopping the run, poppin’, son of God droppin’ anybody who next/ I want a mansion, I want a million advances, I’m gonna stay in Atlanta/ Most of ‘em move to LA and throw all of they money away and move back with they parents/ I see the canvas

The song and video is a teaser of what fans can expect from J.I.D as he works on his next album The Forever Story. The title is a continuation and play on the title of his previously released The Never Story project. Later this month, fans will be able to catch J.I.D and his Dreamville cohorts at the Red Rocks Ampitheatre in Morrison, CO returning to the live stage.

In addition to recent loose cuts like “Cludder,” “Ballads” with Conway The Machine, “Skegee,” and “Bruuuh,” J.I.D can also be heard handing out assists such as his recent one on labelmate Lute’s debut album Gold Mouf.
