After initially previewing the song with a laid back live performance on Genius’ Open Mic series earlier this month, Ari Lennox’s “Chocolate Pomegranate” is finally officially available on streaming services today. For the track’s hook, Ari sings earnestly about knowing she will love her lover the best:

“Try me in public but I know this much is true, no one’s gonna ride and love you like I do, ooh-ooh. Said chocolate pomegranate, come live in this truth, no one’s gonna ride and love you like I do.”

Ari Lennox recently dropped a single with Anthony Ramos titled “If You Want Me To Stay.” The artists teamed up with whiskey brand Crown Royal and the Main Street Alliance, a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping small businesses, to raise money for the bars and small venues affected by the ongoing pandemic.

Although her last full length solo project was 2019’s Shea Butter Baby, she has been far from inactive. Ari is heard crooning lovely hooks all over her label Dreamville’s Revenge of the Dreamers III project, and also recently collaborated with Nasty C on his song “Black and White.” In August, she appeared on Skip Marley’s EP Higher Place on the song “Make Me Feel” alongside Rick Ross.

In an interview with GQ, Ari explained a bit about what the process was like working on Shea Butter Baby, specifically how she feels about her well-loved song “New Apartment”:

“It’s for women. I felt like [J. Cole] couldn’t understand why I love ‘New Apartment’ so much, and I think he was, as a producer, focused on the beat not being as perfect as ‘Whipped Cream.’ It’s just a different vibe. And what’s most important about New Apartment’ is the message. I just wanted to talk about achieving that dream. I never thought I’d ever be able to afford an apartment.
