City Girls surprise fans with ‘City On Lock’ album

‘City On Lock’ includes features from Doja Cat, Lil Baby, Lil Durk and Yo Gotti.

On Juneteenth (June 19), City Girls’ long-awaited sophomore effort City On Lock leaked to the Miami duo’s dismay, so Yung Miami and J.T. seized the moment to officially release the album at midnight on Saturday (June 20).

The dynamic pair also took the occasion to drop the music video for their lead single “Jobs,” which was previously teased on social media by both girls earlier this year.

City On Lock encompasses 15 tracks, including “Pussy Talk” with Doja Cat, “Broke Niggas” featuring Yo Gotti, Lil Baby on “Flewed Out” and Lil Durk on the project’s self-titled track. It follows their 2018 debut album Girl Code, home to their No. 1 Billboard hit “Act Up” and the top-charting single “Twerk.”

The gracious delivery of City On Lock amid its premature release and the passing of Caresha’s ex-boyfriend and father to her son, Jai Wiggins Sr., is a continued testament to their absolute strength. While J.T. was incarcerated in 2018, Yung Miami held it down and didn’t let the steam of City Girl’s influence slow down while also gifting pop culture the terms “flewed out” and “period.”

“Y’all think everything a game! NOBODY IS PLAYING,” Miami vented on Instagram before announcing that the project would be released in full at midnight.

Fans are praising the girls for how they handled the unexpected release of their album and are equally singing them praises of how much they love the project. Their growth on City On Lock is unmatched and it appears that fans are enjoying Caresha’s advancement in her lyrical delivery.

“It wasn’t the time to drop cause of my situation but I swear all the love & good feedback making me feel so much better!” Miami said on her newly created Twitter account.

City Girls are up for two nominations for the 2020 BET Awards including, Best Group. The virtual event will air June 28 on CBS.
