Back in March, Detroit rising star 42 Dugg liberated the second installment of his Young & Turnt series, which sees 14 new tracks and features from Babyface Ray, Lil Baby and Yo Gotti. Following his video for “Not A Rapper” comes a dope visual for “Hard Times,” which is produced by Helluva Beats and sees Dugg rapping about the struggles that helped to build him into the man he is today:

“Hard times don’t last, I did that s*** for ten hoes, b***h, so don’t brag, I’m like fifty thousand, even, dressed in all bags/

Call me mister get that head and never call back, tell that b***h to fall back/

I got somethin’ goin’ on, don’t hit me on the ‘Gram, b***h, don’t call my phone/

Got here on my own, just feel like I need it, whoever owed me somethin’, keep it pushin’, we ain’t even…/”

Directed by Jolo, the accompanying video keeps things simple and to the point, which an iced-down 42 Dugg performing the song in different locations around Detroit. Presumably, it’s a direct way to showcase the lower points in his upbringing, all while he celebrates his current successes in his life.

Young & Turnt 2 follows last year’s Young & Turnt, which served as 42 Dugg’s first project under his partnership deal with Lil Baby’s 4PF and Yo Gotti’s CMG. In a recent interview with HotNewHipHop, Dugg spoke on how the multi-label venture came together:

“It came together two different ways but it’s real organic. I met Baby kicking it on some other s***. We formed a little close relationship. He asked to listen to my music and everything was history from there. With Gotti, somebody put Gotti on my music. He was like, “s***, what do we gotta do to make it happen?”
