Leave it to Drake to bring the culture to a halt with a surprise. Earlier this evening, the OVO head honcho took to social media to announce that he is releasing a new mixtape titled Dark Lane Demo Tapes, which will serve as a precursor to Drake’s sixth studio LP. The project will see 14 tracks made up of previously released loosies, unauthorized leaks, and new tunes. Drake will also be receiving some assistance from Future, Young Thug, Playboy Carti, Fivio Foreign, and more.

Recently, Drizzy blessed his fans with a double-pack in the form of “When To Say When” and “Chicago Freestyle,” followed by the Tik-Tok-driven dance cut “Toosie Slide,” which — to no one’s surprise — quickly made its way to the top of the Billboard 100 singles chart. Just before Christmas, he jumped into the UK Drill scene with the hard-hitting “War,” an AXL Beats-produced effort that saw him taking aim at his enemies and paying respects to longtime collaborator The Weeknd:

“OVOXO link up, mandem drink up, me and the drillers, Hawk and Sticks and Cash and Baka, Gucci, P, and Gilla/

And the boy that sound like he sang on Thriller, you know that’s been my n***a, yeah, we just had to fix things, family, 6ix tings, we can’t split up/

As for the rest of the game, I’ll do man dirty, man’ll get two time, to me, that’s just our side, I don’t really care who rides on whose side/”

Recently, Drake joined Tory Lanez on his “Quarantine Radio” IG Live stream, which ended up breaking records with well over 300,000 viewers tuned in. He spent his time on the stream taking shots with Tory and Co., and gave a fairly humorous tip on surviving the current pandemic (“Honestly, a glass of wine keeps the ‘rona away”).

Press play on Dark Lane Demo Tapes below. Drake’s forthcoming album is said to be arriving sometime this summer.
