Last week saw the release of Rich The Kid’s third studio LP Boss Man, which boasts 19 new tracks from the Atlanta-based rapper and features from Lil Baby, DaBaby, Nicki Minaj, Post Malone, YoungBoy Never Broke Again, and more. This week, he delivers a heartfelt, partially animated visual for the album’s opening cut “Far From You,” which sees production from Austin Powerz and Reske and features Rich The Kid rapping his best, most in-depth bars heard to date:

I used to pray for them better days/

They was doubtin’ on my come-up, tell ’em stay away/

Now I’m major paid/

My mama know that I’m a star, ain’t no more bad days/

That n***a gave away his soul, he signed the last page/

Been on the road, I don’t get tired like I’m Kevin Gates/

I’m praying to the Lord a n***a see them heaven gates/

I’m praying all my n***as never see another case/

Still screaming free y’all…/”

Courtesy of Cole Bennett and Lyrical Lemonade, Rich The Kid can be seen signing contracts and handling money business, while also making sure to give his time and attention to his family, with fiancé Tori Brixx and their son making cameo appearances. Speaking to BET, Rich The Kid — real name Dimitri Roger — spoke on what it meant to be a father to his kids, and his favorite part of that role:

Watching my kids grow up. I’m a family man, and I just enjoy being around my family. I have one daughter, so I also do enjoy being a girl dad and appreciate being in her life.

“Far From You” follows previously released album cuts “Red” and the Quavo-assisted “That’s Tuff,” the latter of which came accompanied with a Motion Family-directed video.
