Everyone knows that Christmas is the time of giving. With that in mind, it makes a lot of sense why we’re being musically gifted so much during these times. For quite some time now, it seemed as if we weren’t going to receive a new Lil Durk album until sometime next year. Today, the OTF front-man gives us some holiday cheer with the surprise release of his highly anticipated album The Voice. If it’s one thing about Durk, he’s always going to come with nothing less than pure heat as we all know and witnessed him execute on a high level.

Prompting fans to tell the trenches that he’s back, Durkio shook the internet with the album’s announcement. It’s inevitable that the album’s cover art would pay homage to his lifelong friend/twin and labelmate — the late King Von who saw his untimely demise in Atlanta recently. With “Long Live Grandson” visible over Von’s head, Durk is doing what’s necessary to keep his brother’s memory alive and well.

All things considered, the decision to drop The Voice in the middle of the week is an exciting move for Lil Durk, who has been steadily enjoying the biggest year of his career on a musical level. It should be interesting to see how the first week sales play out, even though Durk has never been quite so concerned with numbers. Enjoying his position as a voice of the streets, Durk holds his own accordingly throughout the album.

While many people might’ve thought what else is there for Durk to do, the Chicago rapper continues to prove why he’s one of the elite in not just Chicago music scene, but the music industry as a whole. The Voice is just a staple in Durk’s career and we’re quite sure that there will be more in the vault for our pleasure coming sooner than later.
