Tobe Nwigwe has recruited two talented artists, Duckwrth and Olu of Earthgang, for his latest single “WILDLINGS.” The song comes with an accompanying video, a visually captivating display filled with dancers, monochrome fits, and more. On his verse, Tobe comes in showing off his flow:
Flow sick hospital every time I bust a riddle. You should feel like getting down. Move ya feet just a little, get to acting like a pistol. Started busting on the ground. You know I’m straight up out the, better watch how you speak. Real Gs don’t chatter, from Bissonnet to Club Creek, if you loose with ya teeth. Glass jaws get shattered, ouch. But it don’t matter, every hood the same.
“WILDLINGS” was the fifth installment of Tobe’s “Get Twisted Sunday’s” and is also a part of a series of original collaborations, a collection Tobe is referring to as CINORIGINALS. The only other official one listed alongside “WILDLINGS” is “EAT,” his collab track with Fat. Tobe Nwigwe also previously joined forces with PJ Morton earlier this year for their song “Ashamed,” which was was originally titled “You Should Be Ashamed” and was featured on the EMPIRE label’s compilation album Voices for Change, Vol. 1, created in the name of social justice. This summer, he presented The Pandemic Project, which is led by the infectious singles “Try Jesus” and “I NEED YOU TO.”
Olu can be heard all over EarthGang’s collective Spillage Village Spilligion project that dropped back in September, which featured an array of guest artists including Chance the Rapper, Lucky Daye, Ari Lennox, and Masego. The album was preceded by singles like “Baptize,” “Hapi” and “End of Daze.”
In a previous interview, Olu spoke about how crucial traveling and embracing other cultures are to their artistry:
“EarthGang, it’s the opportunity to learn, influence and teach the world at the same time. When we travel we bring this style of truth, this style of rap, hip-hop—whatever you want to call it—to the world. We bring Atlanta to the world and people love that sh*t. The traveling, not only does it help us learn sh*t, it helps us continue to spread the Atlanta name around the world. I think it’s a beautiful thing that we’re able to continue to spread the Atlanta name, and not one Atlanta sound, but the diversity of sound that Atlanta is known for.”
