Back in June, Teyana Taylor released her third studio LP The Album, which sees 23 tracks and features from Rick Ross, Erykah Badu, Quavo, Kehlani, King Combs, Future, Missy Elliott, Big Sean, Lauryn Hill, and more. This week, he unloads another visual from the project for “Lose Each Other,” which is produced by Mike Dean, Ray Keys, and Bongo and sees the multi-talent singing about the strength of love, even when in darker times:

“We don’t have to lose each other, we could still be friends if you want it, baby, all these ultimatums, makin’ me feel like we faked it/

I’ll still go and see your mother, I’ll still check up on your brother, I meant it when I said “I loved you,” and love just don’t go away/”

The self-directed visual starts with the legendary Elton John playing the piano, which various fashion-forward shots of Taylor mixed with a dancing couple bringing forth the emotions of the ballad through ballet.

In a recent interview with Apple Music, Teyana Taylor further explained the meaning behind the powerful number:

“It’s one of my only ballads on the record. It’s perfect because it’s just like we don’t have to completely throw away everything, you know? Even in the beginning-beginning—those puppy love stages with my husband, and we had our little breakups here and there. It was just like, I’m still checking on your mom, checking on your brothers—like when y’all not really broken up, but y’all fake broken up for like a week…that’s the way I look at things—everything don’t have to always be so bitter. You get into one argument and it’s just like, ‘Well, F you forever.’ … We don’t have to end on negative terms, because it’s still a person that you once loved.”
