King Combs samples a Wu-Tang classic on “Legacy”

The rapper is back with his latest single, which pays homage to Kim Porter.

King Combs is back with another single, and this time his new hit samples a classic hip-hop record. His new track “Legacy” contains a sample of Wu-Tang’s “Triumph,” and the song arrived with an accompanying visual. The Roodmy Poulard-directed video is dedicated to his late beloved mother, Kim Porter. On the song, he reflects on the pain and onward progress:

“Look like it’s heaven but some sh*t is hell. I lost my moms last year, took the biggest L. Know her spirit got me evolving, I could feel it help. Separating my path with a different trail, I prevail. Anything just to see my favorite lady. Built for everything, know that’s how my pops raised me.”

“Legacy” follows King Combs’ 2019 project Cyncerely, C3. The 9-track long project included features from the City Girls, Ty Dolla $ign, Jeremih, Smooky MarGielaa, AzChike, 1takejay, Kai Cash, Tee Grizzley, and more. The project was led by his “Naughty” single featuring Jeremih. He recently appeared on the late Pop Smoke’s album Shoot For The Stars Aim For The Moon, and just last week fans got to check out a new visual from the deluxe edition for “Diana (Remix),” a collaboration between Pop Smoke, King Combs, and Calboy. King Combs also assisted Teyana Taylor on her well-loved hit, “How You Want It?”

In a previous interview, the rapper explained the difference between C3 vs. King Combs:

People already know me as Christian Combs or King Combs. But C3 is really like my personal self with my friends and stuff. My auntie be calling me C3. Christian Casey Combs. I have three C’s in my initials, that’s where it stems from. The reason why I called this project Cyncerely, C3 was if you listen to it, you’ll hear it’s not all the same vibe. That’s really how I am as an artist, I have a lot of different vibes. I’m not just nostalgic rapper or just a West Coast rapper.
