It’s been quite a time to tap into some new music these days. Given the current climate of the world and its highs and lows (mostly lows), music artists across each genre came through in the clutch for their fans when they needed it the most. Not only have we been fortunate enough to have some pretty solid albums and EP’s dropping left and right each week, we have been treated considerably well with the releases of the respective deluxe editions of those projects (not too long after the original drops). Today, Compton rapper YG delivers his fifth studio album My Life 4HUNNID.

After the album’s announcement earlier this week, YG took to social media to share one of the highlighted records “Out On Bail”: “I’m out on bail them muhfuckas trying to get to me, But I won’t tell, so with some time they tryna hit me I’m innocent as fuck, but they tryna prove I’m guilty. These lawyers fees is crazy, thank God I’m playing with milli’s. In love with the streets, you by yourself when it get tricky. Beefin with my homies, all I think about is Nipsey, usually sip tequila, but today I’m off the Henny. Thinkin bout Nipsey, nigga had to get tipsy” he raps in the chorus.
My Life 4HUNNID follows up YG’s 2019 effort 4Real 4Real and it’s arguably some of his best work to date. Laced with 14 records in total, YG secured some stand out guest features with Tyga, Ty Dolla $ign, Logic, Gunna, ex girlfriend Kehlani, Day Sulan, and two features from Lil Wayne.
In a recent sit down with Zane Lowe, YG explained how the album was highly influenced by Tupac:
“This album was highly influenced by Tupac. This is as far as the space I’m in and what I’m dealing with in life — he went through a lot of the stuff that I’m dealing with right now, and he was making records about it, and just the tone and the cadence of how he was coming up. I was playing with a lot of that type of sway of Tupac.”
