It is common knowledge that The Weeknd is one of the biggest superstars that the industry has ever seen. Since his arrival back in 2011 with his debut mixtape House Of Balloons, Abel was destined to be colossal. His career has done nothing but elevate over the years and it will continue until he retires. As we kick off a fresh new year, The Weeknd chose the perfect time to feed the world some new music and rightfully so, everyone is elated. Today (Jan. 7), Abel returns with the release of his fifth studio album Dawn FM. The wait is finally over!

After going for a bloodied, bandaged and red-suited look in the After Hours era, which The Weeknd told Variety was “reflecting on the absurd culture of Hollywood celebrity and people manipulating themselves for superficial reasons to please and be validated,” he’s taking things in a different, for this new phase. The Dawn FM cover sees the 31-year-old singer with old age makeup, which he also wears in the new trailer. Aging and the passage of time seem to be the design here, with sped up shots of a flower wilting and The Weeknd assaulting his older self in a club.

To add substance to the release, The Weeknd allowed fans to join a livestream of the album. As a part of the livestream experience, which aired exclusively on Amazon Music’s channel on Twitch and the Amazon Music app, there is exclusive merch for the event including a limited edition hoodie, t-shirt and sweatshirt to celebrate the Dawn FM album debut.

The 16-song effort is some of The Weeknd’s best work and will certainly be appreciated in the years to come. Check it out now!
