Ari Lennox is understandably still upset after getting arrested at an Amsterdam airport earlier this week. The “Pressure” singer took to Twitter Saturday (Dec. 4) to reflect on the incident, revealing she is “not ok” with how she was treated.
“My only regret is my reaction to the racism and discrimination I experienced,” Lennox tweeted. “I would like to explain what happened to me but KLM has made it clear that they never cared to hear it from jump. It’s painful being silenced like this. It’s painful what I went through. I’m not ok.”
On Thursday (Dec. 2), Lennox took to Twitter to let her fans and supporters know that she was safe, tweeting: “Hey loves I’m safe. Thank you so much for your prayers and love.”
As REVOLT previously reported, the 30-year-old Washington, D.C. native was arrested on Monday (Nov. 30) at the Amsterdam Schiphol airport. She expressed her frustrations with KLM Royal Dutch Airlines and the airport’s security in a series of disturbing tweets.
“I’m being arrested in Amsterdam for reacting to a woman racially profiling me,” she tweeted on Monday. “Fuck Amsterdam security. They hate Black people.”
“Racism. Wow Amsterdam I’m horrified. I was so happy to travel and this evil woman… I’ve never experienced racism so blatant,” she continued.
“I just want to go home,” Lennox added. “I’ll never leave my house again.”
While Lennox claims race played a factor in her mistreatment, a spokesperson for the Dutch military police refuted the Shea Butter Baby songstress’ allegations. According to the Duth military police spokesperson Robert van Kapel, Lennox was arrested for being aggressive toward an airline official, disturbing public order and public intoxication. “Our unit found a woman full of emotions that wouldn’t calm down,” he told Reuters. “That’s why she had to be taken into custody.”
