Ari Lennox was arrested at the Amsterdam Schiphol airport on Monday morning (Nov. 29) after being racially profiled by an airline staff member, she said on Twitter. The “Shea Butter Baby” songstress tweeted that she had never before “experienced racism so blatant.”
“I just want to go home,” she continued. “I’ll never leave my house again.”
According to Dutch military police, which is reportedly in charge of security at the airport, Lennox was arrested for disturbing public order, being aggressive toward an airline official and public intoxication.
The spokesperson also said police are investigating threats Lennox allegedly made toward the airline official. It’s unclear when the “Unloyal” singer will be released from police custody and as of 10 a.m. EST, she hasn’t provided any further updates on Twitter.
On Sunday evening (Nov. 28), Lennox performed her latest single “Pressure” at the 2021 Soul Train Awards. Silk Sonic, Lucky Daye, Summer Walker and others also performed at the awards show; with trophies going to the likes of Jazmine Sullivan, Silk Sonic, Giveon, Kirk Franklin and more.
On Saturday (Nov. 27), Lennox also announced she recently made her acting debut in Paramount+’s revival of the sports-based, drama comedy series, “The Game.” “My acting debut… Make sure to tune into #TheGame on [Paramount+],” she tweeted.
