Keyshia Cole reflected on the passing of her adoptive father in an Instagram tribute on Tuesday (Nov. 16). The singer, who also lost her biological mother earlier this year, said her dad “unfortunately… didn’t make it through” his bout with COVID-19.

“So here we are,” Keyshia wrote alongside heartbroken emojis. “He’s the entire reason my last name is COLE. The only father I knew, he did such a great job here on earth!!!!! He made sure (Even tho he wasn’t my biological father) to keep a stable foundation and roof over all of our heads during our upbringing!!!! Working for [AC Transit] for over 30 years. My childhood was filled with 40L and 52L rides alongside my father!!!”

The 40-year-old posted photos with her dad, Leon Cole Jr., and said he was “a very wise man.”

“[He] taught me and my siblings that knowledge is power!! He was very dedicated to learning and sharing his strong thoughts and opinions on the Bible and religion, and his loving passion for Yahweh Elohim,” she continued.

The reality TV star also reflected on “our many long talks of love and how a man needs to treat a woman. [That] may be the reason a man hasn’t been able to hold on to me too long!” she joked.

“He was the greatest example of love, 51 years of marriage to my mother Yvonne Cole. Seriously the most loving guy I’ve ever known,” Keyshia concluded. “He’s gonna be missed so much.”

As reported by REVOLT, Cole’s adoptive mother Yvonne revealed her husband’s passing in an Instagram post on Sunday (Nov. 14). According to the post, Leon sadly died from COVID-19 complications. Just days before his passing, Yvonne wrote that Leon was fighting for his life against the disease in an intensive care unit.

Keyshia’s biological mother, Frankie Lons, died in July from an accidental overdose.

We at REVOLT continue to send our deepest condolences to Keyshia and her family at his time. See her post on Instagram below.
