Summer Walker’s Still Over It is the No. 1 album in America. According to Billboard, Walker’s second studio LP is her first No. 1 album on the Billboard 200 chart. The 20-track project earned an impressive 166,000 album-equivalent units in the U.S. in the week ending Nov. 11, according to MRC Data. The music publication reports that over 90% of the album’s first-week units stemmed from streaming.
The “4th Baby Mama” also made history with the success of Still Over It. Her streaming numbers were the highest ever within a week for an R&B album created by a woman. She recorded 153,000 streaming equivalent units – totaling 201.1 million on-demand streams of the album’s tracks, according to MRC Data. The feat was enough to outdo her debut Over It, which earned 154.7 million on-demand streams in 2019. Walker is also the first woman, since Beyoncé, to score a No. 1 R&B album in over five years. The Atlanta native released the highly-anticipated Still Over It on Friday (Nov. 5).
In an exclusive message shared with Apple Music, Walker encouraged her fans to “take this opportunity to learn from my mistakes.” “You don’t have to guess if something is love. Love is shown through actions. Stop making excuses for people who don’t show up for you. Don’t ignore the red flags,” she wrote. “And don’t think you have to stay somewhere ’cause you can’t find better—you can and you will. Don’t settle for less—you don’t deserve it and neither does your family.”
The album includes features from Cardi B, SZA, Ari Lennox, Lil Durk, Pharrell, Omarion, JT from City Girls, and a closeout blessing by Ciara on the outro “Ciara’s Prayer.” In a recent review of the album, Essence wrote, “Walker’s style [on Still Over It] is introspective and firm, yet oh-so malleable as she croons about expired love.” “Walker’s an open diary as she gets to the root of who she is and what she’s in search of. She’s vocal about emotional and carnal desires, standing up for women who once may have felt quieted by societal expectations,” the review reads. “Walker is as sassy, sexy and vulnerable as she wants to be and no one can make her feel bad about it.”
