Back in August, Tiwa Savage unleashed her Water & Garri EP. The project spanned five tracks and boasted appearances from Nas, Rich King, Amaarae, Tay Iwar, and Brandy. Today (Oct. 12), Tiwa keeps the project’s momentum alive by presenting the stunning official visual for the Brandy-assisted track “Somebody’s Son” from the EP. In the Segun Michael Ajayi-produced track, Savage and Brandy sing about having faith that some day a man will treat them like the deserving queens they are:

Somebody, somebody, somebody’s son go love me one day, one day/ Worried? I’m not worried, no I no look for embrace, who wan settle for whatever? And live your life forever displaced/ My heart has been through much

At the time the collab track first released, Tiwa revealed in an Apple Music interview that Brandy was “the reason why I started singing” and this collaboration is nothing short of a dream come true. She continued, “As a kid, just listening to ‘I [Wanna] To Be Down,’ every interview I’ve ever had, she’s my favorite, my all-time, my mentor, my everything. And I’ve been trying to work with her for years. It was a dream of mine. And when it happened this time, it’s not even just music, we connected like sisters. She’s someone that I speak to literally every other day. It’s beyond my expectation.”

Brandy has been an undeniable staple for R&B for many years, starting her journey back in 1994 with her self-titled debut album. Most recently, she released her critically acclaimed seventh album titled B7 led by her single “Baby Mama” featuring Chance The Rapper. She also joined Gallant on his Neptune EP a few months ago.
