The 2021 MTV VMAs airs tonight (Sept. 12) at 8 p.m. ET live from Brooklyn’s Barclays Center.

The 2021 MTV VMAs airs tonight (Sept. 12) live from Brooklyn’s Barclays Center. There are plenty of surprises in store and one of them may have already leaked. According to Page Six, Kanye West has been added as a “secret, last-minute performer to the show.” The outlet is reporting Yeezy will perform cuts from his latest album Donda.

“With the Kardashians in town for New York Fashion Week and the Met Gala, we hear they [Kim and Kourtney] may be making an appearance as well, especially since Kourtney’s beau, Travis Barker, is performing with good friend Machine Gun Kelly,” a source from MTV told Page Six.

West is not nominated for any awards tonight, however he has won seven VMAs including the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard award in 2015. It will be interesting to see what the erratic entertainer plans to do, if he performs, since he has already conducted three live listening events prior to the release of Donda.

‘Ye, of course, stood solo robed in a red leather Gap bubble coat and a mask during his first listening session at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta. He was accompanied by several background singers and dancers in his second show in Atlanta, where he was lifted into the sky in a cloud of smoke and lights. Yeezy’s third show took place inside Chicago’s Soldier Field. A replica of the South Shore, Chicago house he grew up in with his mother, Donda, was built onstage. ‘Ye was joined by Marilyn Manson, DaBaby, Westside Gunn and Shenseea, among others on the front porch. His ex-wife, Kim Kardashian, arrived in a wedding dress and if that wasn’t shocking enough, Yeezy decided to set himself on fire to the tune of “Come to Life.”

West will undoubtedly look to top his previous three Donda performances at the 2021 VMAs —if the reports are true. Alicia Keys, Swae Lee, Camila Cabello, Doja Cat, Ed Sheeran, Foo Fighters, Justin Bieber, Lil Nas X, Normani, and more have already been confirmed to hit the stage at the network’s annual award show tonight.

Tune in to the 2021 MTV VMAs tonight at 8 p.m. ET.
