The first stop on Wizkid’s 17-date tour took place in Boston on Friday (Sept. 10) at the Orpheum Theatre.

Wizkid’s loyal fans have taken to Twitter to wish the Nigerian singer well as he embarks on his “Made in Lagos” Tour. The hashtag #PrayerforWizKid trended late Friday (Sept.10) into Saturday (Sept. 11) morning.

The first stop on Wizkid’s 17-date tour took place in Boston on Friday (Sept. 10) at the Orpheum Theatre. He’ll end his run in Montreal on January 22, 2022.

“Gracious God, thank you for overflowing blessings of your son; Wizkid As he embarks on #MadeinLagosTour, unlocking the next level of greatness. We pray for strength, we ask that you bless & protect him, his team, performers and everyone attending his concerts,” wrote one Twitter user.

“Yo Nigeria is at a different level of understanding the assignment,” R&B artist Kenyon Dixon tweeted. “I saw #PrayerforWizkid trending and I thought something happened. Whole time, they’re praying for him because he’s getting ready to go on tour. Man that’s incredible lol.”

Many of the supportive tweets came from the Grammy award winning artist’s Nigerian fanbase. “#PrayerforWizkid Lord we commit your son Wizkid Ayo Balogun. We pray that you guide and protect him. Be his ultimate director and instructor. As his Made In Lagos tour begins he’ll start on a high note and end on a higher note, ijn Amen. Do these things and take all the glory,” tweeted a user named @BigDera_

@gapfidayo wrote, “Lord as your son Ayodeji Wizkid Balogun, start his #MIL tour today give him the strength and the power to overcome every obstacles in his way. Let today mark the beginning of a new era in his life. Amen. #MadeinLagos.”

The digital prayers seemed to be organized by a Nigerian based social club called WizkidFC a.k.a. “TeamWizkidworldwide.” The group is a registered organization in Nigeria that promotes African culture, commits to charitable acts, and amplifies Wizkid’s endeavors.

“Wow I thought something happened to Wizkid because of this #PrayerforWizkid trend but it’s just Nigeria praying he has a good tour 🥺 smh in America all niggas do is PRAY 🙏🏾 on your DOWN ⬇️ FALL,” tweeted rapper Yung Baby Tate.

“There’s no fanbase like wizkid f.c I love it so much #PrayerforWizkid,” @madsogb tweeted.
