The Notorious B.I.G.’s Brooklyn home is up for sale, The New York Post reported on Wednesday (Sept. 8). According to the outlet, the apartment where the legendary rapper resided with his then-wife Faith Evans and her daughter Chyna Tahjere Griffin is now on sale for $1.7 million. Biggie owned the Fort Greene home from 1994 until his passing in 1997. It’s also where he lived when he released his debut studio album, Ready to Die.

The two-bedroom, two-bathroom apartment is located blocks away from Christopher “Notorious B.I.G.” Wallace Way, the Clinton Hill street that’s named after the late hip hop icon.

According to The Post, the property has changed considerably since Biggie’s time there and was most recently renovated by television costume designer Caroline Duncan. She described its new appearance as a “chic artistic haven” with several new additions, including a customized library, chef’s kitchen, walk-through closet and an expansive loft.

“When I moved in, the basement was just a raw space with concrete floors,” Duncan said. “I framed and put up all the walls and created a bathroom with barn wood and modern finishes, a massive walk-through closet to showcase my collection of clothing and accessories, a laundry room and bedrooms.”

“Upstairs had been carved into a series of puzzling small rooms so I did the opposite and knocked down all the walls to create a lofted open space,” she continued. “I loved the neighborhood, the proximity to Fort Greene Park, the fact that the building is on the Historic Register and had the bones of a true artist’s residence.”

Back in 2013, the Brooklyn apartment that Biggie grew up in was sold for just under $8,000. According to The Post, the property now rents for more than $4,000 a month. Meanwhile, the newly listed Fort Greene home was most recently featured in the documentary Biggie: The Life of Notorious B.I.G. Take a peek inside the apartment on Instagram via The Post below.
