Fresh off the release of his new album Certified Lover Boy, Drake is taking his musical talents to “Monday Night Football,” TMZ reports. According to the outlet, which broke the news on Tuesday (Sept. 7), the 6 God will curate the playlist for 10 football games this 2021-2022 season, which kicks off next Monday (Sept. 13).

Emeka Ofodile, ESPN’s Vice President of Sports Marketing, said Drake was the perfect candidate for the role of music curator since he “sits firmly at the intersection of music and sports.”

“We couldn’t be more excited for this upcoming collaboration,” he added to TMZ.

According to ESPN, Drizzy will dig into both his old classics and recent hits —presumably off his record-breaking new album — for the football series’ soundtrack. TMZ writes that other artists deemed “worthy of getting exposure” by The Boy will also be added to the rotation. Past seasons of “Monday Night Football” have featured music curation by Diplo and DJ Khaled, which ESPN said was a “big hit.”

Drake fans will remember that the Toronto-bred star “hacked” into the sports network last month to promote his sixth studio album, Certified Lover Boy. As reported by REVOLT, a hooded figure, purportedly Drizzy, interrupted a SportsCenter broadcast to announce the album’s release date with a cryptic cardboard sign.

Since arriving to the masses on Friday (Sept. 3), CLB has enjoyed history-making success. The album is on track to have the biggest album debut week of 2021 and is projected to sell between 575,000 and 625,000 album equivalent units within its first week. According to Chart Data, Certified Lover Boy is also expected to draw somewhere between 650 million and 700 million streams by the end of this week. Drake’s debut week will also include between 45,000 and 55,000 albums sold; Complex writes.
