Club Drake is now open. Everyone with a working brain knows that when it is time for Drake to drop new music, especially an album, it gets quite spooky around the industry. For about 14 years now and counting, the OVO front-man has always displayed great amounts of superiority with just about any release from his singles, to his features, to his album catalog. Of course, this all stems from one goat who goes by the name of Dwayne Michael Carter, better known as Lil Wayne. When Drake said “we’re all thankful for Weezy, but no one more than me” on his Rick Ross-assisted “Lemon Pepper Freestyle,” we all felt that.
From the opportunity alone, the 6 god has repeatedly made history while cementing himself as one of the greatest to ever do it. Today (Sept 3), after a long delay, we have finally been gifted with Drake’s new album Certified Lover Boy.
With the fourth quarter of 2021 among us, music lovers are in for an abundance of audio smack. With Kanye West dropping off his highly anticipated DONDA album just earlier this week, us receiving a full length Drake album today is the same as Christmas arriving early. Not to mention, we are confirmed to receive an album from Lil Wayne as well as Kendrick Lamar’s final Top Dawg Ent. album.
As the hype built surrounding this release, Drake had cryptic billboards through Toronto as the perfect addition to CLB’s rollout and it was quite successful to say the least. Hell, he even (allegedly) hacked ESPN’s server to promote the album’s release date. With the delays intact, this is probably the Drizzy album that the world yearned for the most, and for good reason. Serving as the follow up to his Dark Lane Demo Tapes (released in May 2020), CLB is one that will for sure be on repeat and added to many playlists for years to come.
If you thought this Canadian tyrant was pumping his breaks any time soon, you should be ashamed of yourself.
