Erykah Badu is apologizing for her behavior at a recent event. On Thursday (Aug. 12), the singer offered a public apology to Barack and Michelle Obama for being a “terrible guest” at the former president’s 60th birthday bash.

Mr. And Mrs. Obama, Please forgive me 4 being the ‘terrible guest‘ at such a sacred event for your family,” she penned in a tweet. “I was so inconsiderate. Thank you for all your love. What an example of ‘how NOT‘ to be ……Erica.”

The written apology reportedly came after she deleted footage she posted of the event.

Badu was one of many celebrities who made the final cut after the Obamas decided to scale things back.

The party was initially set to have 200 guests, but with rising COVID-19 cases, the former first couple limited the guests to family and close friends. The “Love of My Life” singer was invited alongside Common and H.E.R. to enjoy the event and to be the crowd’s entertainers.

Though most of the party was kept under wraps, Badu shared a video which captured the special moment in which H.E.R. took the dance floor with the birthday boy before ending their two-step with a hug. The post, according to reports, supposedly violated a rule that prohibited photography at the event.

After Badu posted her apology, fans offered words of support in hopes to make her feel better.

Erykah, it will be just fine,” wrote one Twitter user. “My take is the O family understand[s]. They are much more than educated people. They have not forgotten where they have come from. You took care of it. Stay beautiful as you are. Bless you.”

“To apologize when you have done something your host asked you not to do is the right and mature thing to do,” added another person. “Good for you Erykah, you have integrity. You are woman enough to apologize. The people saying don’t apologize don’t understand integrity.”
