Last October, Wizkid blessed the world with his fourth studio LP Made In Lagos, a 14-track project that saw additional contributions from Burna Boy, Skepta, Damian Marley, H.E.R., Ella Mai, and more. In addition to landing on several best-of lists in 2020 Made In Lagos broke a variety of African streaming records — not only did the project the highest-charting album by a Nigerian artist in US iTunes history (peaking at number three), Wizkid’s latest creation also became the first African album to debut on the Spotify Global Album chart, landing within the top ten. Simply put, Wizkid’s status as an international icon was further solidified.

One of the biggest standouts from Made In Lagos is its most recent official single “Essence,” a P2J and Legendury Beatz-produced offering that features Tems and sees the collaborators bringing the heavy love vibes on wax:

“Say na me dey mess up your mind, and na me dey make you free up your mind, say your body talk to me nice, say na my love, you dey need for your life, yeah our love no be lie, see yeah we dey together yeah day and night…”

Today (August 13), Wizkid decided to add to an already top quality song by bringing along Justin Bieber for the proverbial journey, who attempts to match the overall theme with his own heartfelt, romantic subject matter:

“I prayed for this moment, I would be by your side, and I don’t wanna forget, those lonely nights, ooh, so tell that you gon’ ride with me, tell me that you’ll never lie to me, I just wanna make you proud of me, want you lovin’ every side of me…”

Check out Wizkid and Tems’ new version of “Essence” with Justin Bieber. As revealed on social media, a deluxe version of Made In Lagos will soon be making landfall August 27.
