It’s been a couple of years since Maxo Kream dropped off his second studio LP Brandon Banks, a critically acclaimed effort that saw 15 tracks with additional features from Travis Scott, Megan Thee Stallion, ScHoolboy Q, KCG Josh, and A$AP Ferg. Since then, we’ve seen equally dope singles and collabs from the Houston emcee, including “Dropout” with OMB Bloodbath, “Balenci and Dickies” with Guapo, and “Shiesty” with Retch and V Don.

This past weekend, Maxo Kream delivered a brand new song titled “Local Joker,” a Kal Banx and Mario Luciano-produced effort that sees him rapping about past deeds and current successes:

“Before I play freeze tag, I play kick door, before I heard the word ‘romance,’ I heard the word ‘hoe,’ used to stash the package in the mattress or the sofa, huh, I was putting ki’s in the motor like Toyota, huh, ‘til I made that Lambo order, it’s matte black just like my Rover…”

Directed by NotAChance, the accompanying clip for “Local Joker” begins with Maxo Kream at a basketball court — possibly one that exists within the massive estate that viewers see him in throughout. The Punken talent can also be seen shopping for jewelry, riding around in Lamborghini trunk, and hanging with love ones in remembrance of his younger brother Money Madu — a talent in his own right who was tragically killed early last year.

In a past interview with REVOLT, D.A. Got That Dope spoke on what he witnessed during Maxo’s recording of the Scott-assisted “The Relays” a couple of years ago:

“He freestyled the whole song for three minutes straight. He didn’t keep all of it. I ended up going back, chopping up different parts of his flow to make it more like a song and more catchy. But, after the beat went off, he just kept freestyling. He was in a zone.”
