BROCKHAMPTON recently unleashed their new ROADRUNNER: NEW LIGHT, NEW MACHINE project, and have yet to disappoint in terms of their visuals. Their newest offering “DONT SHOOT UP THE PARTY” is a G-Funk inspired banger that has Kevin addressing social issues in American culture while Matt and Joba handle the verses:
This a jam for your whims and your woes, for the people in the back standing on they tippy-toes/ Don’t give a damn what the journalist wrote, always dead inside like they in the catacombs
On the prowl like a lion in his throne, watchin’ for the prey that might slit his throat/ It’s ‘bout time that I let your ass know, y’all deserve the guillotine even more (Oh, oh)/ Kiss my ass, treat my balls like it’s mistletoe
The “DONT SHOOT UP THE PARTY” video takes viewers on a wild ride with the crew as they experiment with substances in their house while sporting matching blue hoodies. According to a Genius annotation, the song was first previewed on a BROCKHAMPTON’s Instagram story right at the top of this year on Jan 1, 2021. Before this latest video, the group has provided plenty of visuals for fans to enjoy, including “Count On Me” which starred Lil Nas X and Dominic Fike, and also “The Top Of The Mountain.”
The aforementioned ROADRUNNER: NEW LIGHT, NEW MACHINE includes features from Danny Brown, JPEGMAFIA, A$AP Rocky, A$AP Ferg, SoGone SoFlexy, Charlie Wilson, and Baird. It was preceded by their single “Buzzcut” featuring Danny Brown. BROCKHAMPTON’s last body of work before that 2019’s GINGER, which boasts their super successful Platinum-certified single “SUGAR.” Prior to that was 2018’s iridescenceand then their SATURATION trilogy that started back in 2017.
