A collaboration between Kendrick Lamar and J. Cole is in high demand. On Thursday (June 3), TDE Founder Anthony “Top Dawg” Tiffith took to Twitter to pose the following question: “If You Had To Pick 1 TDE artist & 1 Non-TDE Artist to Create a Collab Album Together, Who You Choosing??”

The question caused an internet frenzy as social media users flooded the comments with answers. Among the onslaught of responses were suggestions like Jay Rock and Freddie Gibbs; Kendrick Lamar and Kanye West; SZA and Bryson Tiller; and Schoolboy Q and A$AP Rocky. Most fans, however, expressed their desire to see Kendrick and Cole team up for a collaborative project.

“Stop playing bruh,” one Twitter user wrote alongside a photo of the two emcees. “You know who tf we want.”

“Kendrick and J. Cole LMAO,” wrote another person. “Y’all knew what we was gon say.”

A third person passionately responded, “FOR THE LAST FUCKING TIME @kendricklamar & @JColeNC. WHERE IS THE FUCKING COLLAB ALBUM AT?”

A Cole and Kendrick album was teased over a decade ago when the Compton emcee told fans that he and The Off-Season rapper had “a lot of music” together. “Imma put it to you that way. It might not be just one song,” he told Vibe in a 2010 interview. The following year, he increased fans’ anticipation for a joint project.

“We don’t have a title or release date yet, but J. Cole got like 90 percent of the production so far,” he said at the time. “One of my favorite songs of the project is a song called ‘Shock the World.’ Cole laid the first verse and set the tone for the whole record. It’s going to shake up a lot of people.”

Then in May, when fans asked TDE President Terrence “Punch” Henderson about the project, he responded, “That’s never going to happen.” Hours later, he recanted his statement, writing, “Nah I don’t know. It might still happen. I want it to happen.”

It looks like fans want the collab to happen as well. Check out some of the tweets demanding a Cole and Kendrick joint album below.
