Pretty Ricky artist Baby Blue is recovering in the intensive care unit at a Miami hospital following yesterday’s shooting (April 21), TMZ reports. Blue’s brother and his Pretty Ricky bandmate Spectacular Smith revealed to the outlet that one of the assailant’s bullets pierced Blue’s shoulder and lung.

According to Spectacular, Blue was hooked up to a breathing machine as of Wednesday evening due to his serious gunshot injuries. Only the artist’s mother and father have been permitted to visit him inside the hospital, Spectacular said, due to COVID-19 restrictions.

As REVOLT reported yesterday, Blue was the target of an attempted armed robbery at the SpareZ bowling alley in Davie, Florida; where he was holding a release party for his new single, “Jerry Rice.”

TMZ reports that Blue tried to grab the gun away from one of the assailants during the attack. Blue was trying to protect his cousin from getting shot, the outlet writes, but ended up getting shot himself.

A graphic video from the aftermath of the shooting showed the “Grind With Me” artist laying on the ground while his cousin screamed out for help. The two armed suspects are reportedly still at large and attempted to steal a gold chain necklace. The robbers fled the scene before police arrived, TMZ reports.

According to a statement from his team, Blue was then rushed to a nearby Miami hospital. His team wrote that he was “fighting for his life” and in critical condition.

Thankfully, Blue released his own statement on Thursday (April 22) and said he was on the “road to recovery.” The Florida native added that he awoke from a coma and revealed that the bullet that pierced his lung is now stuck in his back.

“I have to learn to breathe and walk again,” Blue wrote of his injuries. He also thanked his fans and supporters for sharing their love yesterday, writing, “Literally woke up out a coma to thousands of texts and messages. Love yall!”

We at REVOLT continue to wish Baby Blue a speedy recovery.
