Mariah Carey belts out high note while receiving her COVID-19 vaccine
Mariah Carey is clearly serious about stopping the spread of the coronavirus.
Mariah Carey received her first dose of the coronavirus vaccine Saturday (April 3) afternoon in New York City. Thankfully, she videotaped the event for her fans and shared it on her Instagram. Within the minute-and-a-half clip, Carey is visibly anxious but she bolsters up enough courage to follow through.
“I’m here excited and nervous a little bit about getting this shot,” she says during the clip. “This is distracting them from doing their job but you know how I am, I just talk and don’t really think about it. Okay, so calming down, a little nervous about to get this shot. Trying to encourage people to really be safe. You know wer’re still in this battle together. So anyways, I guess here we go.”
As the needle enters her arm, the diva belts out a loud, high-pitched note — almost matching the riffs from the end of her 1997 hit “Honey.”
“It’s only part one,” she says, noticing no traces of blood. “I’m proving my point, I am actually a vampire. Here we are, hoping for the best, encouraging you guys to do it when you can and we’re all in this together as we’ve said. Love you much.”
The “Heartbreaker” singer has kept fans entertained and updated throughout the pandemic. As states shut down amidst a whirlwind of uncertainty last March, Carey was forced to cancel a concert in Honolulu due to the COVID outbreak and travel restrictions.
“Aloha Hawaii!! I’m so so sad to have to announce that I’m postponing my show to November,” Carey captioned the Instagram post. “I was so excited to come back to Hawaii on my ‘anniversary month’ but evolving international travel restrictions force us to consider everyone’s safety and well being.”
A week later, she took to TikTok to present an entertaining hand washing tutorial with her kids asher anthem “Fantasy” featuring O.D.B. plays in the background. “Exercising this to 20 seconds of Ol’ Dirty Bastard! Wash your hands! Stay safe!!!” she wrote.
