Over 40 Verzuz performers, including Beenie Man and Bounty Killer, now own equity in Triller Network thanks to Timbaland and Swizz Beatz’s partnership with the platform. The dancehall mainstays reacted to Triller’s acquisition of the popular virtual series and their new equity stakes in the company on Instagram.

“Big up to my brothers [Timbaland] and [Swizz Beatz],” Beenie Man commented on the announcement.

Meanwhile, Bounty Killer thanked Swizz “for being a part of the evolution.”

Beenie Man and Bounty Killer went head-to-head on Verzuz last May. The artists are just two of the many entertainers who have participated in the internet phenomenon, including John Legend, Rick Ross, Keyshia Cole, Ashanti, DMX, Alicia Keys, Patti LaBelle, Jill Scott, Ludacris, The-Dream, Babyface, Monica, Brandy, Gladys Knight, Ne-Yo, T-Pain, Erykah Badu and more.

On Instagram, Boi-1da, who battled against Hit-Boy last March, thanked Timbo and Swizz “for including myself and the rest of the participants as shareholders for this amazing venture.”

“This is a game-changer for the narrative of how business should be done,” he added. “Too many times we as Black people have helped build something from the ground up that we don’t own or have anything to do with. [Hit-Boy] and I were just doing this for fun, something for the culture, and it’s so crazy that it turned into this!”

Other participants, like Keyshia Cole and Ludacris, praised the Verzuz co-creators’ “character” and for making history.

Swizz and Timbaland announced the deal with Triller earlier this week. No financial details have been revealed yet, but the duo called the sale a “momentous occasion.”

“By putting Verzuz in the Triller Network ecosystem and expanding the Verzuz brand to be side-by-side with the powerful Triller app, we will be able to continue to grow and evolve the music business as a whole, as we have been doing,” they said in a statement to Billboard. “To have partners in Triller who share our vision, specifically to celebrate and elevate the amazing artists who continue to shape culture around the world and give the consumer more direct access, is game-changing.”

On Instagram, Swizz said of the venture, “Finally, something that the creatives own officially!” In addition to the acquisition, the pair will now also oversee music strategy at Triller.
