Travis Scott supplies 50,000 hot meals to Houston snowstorm victims

Scott worked alongside the City of Houston to create an emergency food program intended to help vulnerable residents impacted by Texas’ historic freeze.

Travis Scott is offering assistance to winter storm victims in his home state of Texas. The “Sicko Mode” emcee will feed Houston residents via an emergency food program specifically designed to support those impacted by the unprecedented snowstorm that hit the state earlier this month.

Scott and his Cactus Jack Foundation will work alongside Mayor Sylvester Turner, the Houston Health Foundation, restaurant owners and local agencies and organizations, including The National Association of Christian Churches, to supply 50,000 meals and cases of bottled water to those still suffering in the aftermath of the storm.

Houston residents must live in one of the applicable zip codes previously identified by Turner’s Health Equity Response (H.E.R.) Task Force to be eligible for the program.

Additionally, they must either be “senior citizens, high-risk and/or homebound adults, people with disabilities, families with children under the age of 18, low income or unemployed [individuals],” according to a recent press release.

The “Pick Up the Phone” star joins a list of Houston residents who have stepped up to give back to the people of Texas following the fatal snowstorm that resulted in water and power outages across the state.

Trae tha Truth and his Relief Gang initiative delivered food to suffering snowstorm victims and later gave free gas to over 250 families in Houston, whom he also provided with cases of bottled water and plates complete with chicken wings, red beans, rice and cornbread.

Beyoncé and her BeyGood foundation collaborated with Adidas and Houston’s Bread of Life to create an application that offers up to $1,000 to those in need of immediate financial assistance. Her sister Solange discreetly gave a “significant donation” to Mutual Aid Houston — a BIPOC-led collective that boosts mutual aid efforts.

Scott’s emergency program — which he and the City of Houston began planning last week is currently ongoing. It coincides with Joe Biden’s visit in which he will survey the damages caused by the historic freeze.
