On Tuesday (Feb. 23), Bobby Shmurda was released from custody after serving a six-year sentence related to gun, drug and conspiracy charges. Just as many would imagine, his homecoming was celebrated among family and friends who gathered together to congratulate the rapper on becoming a free man.

Shmurda’s fans also reveled in his recent release and are already anticipating the star’s next moves; the rapper’s new Instagram page garnered nearly three million followers in less than 24 hours. According to DJ Akademiks, Shmurda started off with 900,000 followers on Tuesday (Feb. 23). As of Wednesday (Feb. 24), the total number increased to 3.6 million followers and counting.

Prior to obtaining his freedom, Shmurda thanked his fans for supporting his new Instagram page, which he was forced to create after his old account was hacked.

“Thanks to my dedicated fans, I managed to get my page verified and also 1M followers without ever being active on this page,” the “Bobby Bitch” star said ahead of his release. “Thank you for remaining loyal and for riding this six year sentence out with me. I love you all and look forward to seeing you soon. Sincerely, Bod boy Bobby ah ahh ahhh.”

Supporters of the Shmurda She Wrote star have also been showing up for the rapper by revisiting his discography. On his first day out, he was awarded with platinum plaques for his previous work. His 2014 single “Hot Nigga” was certified 5x platinum, “Bobby Bitch” was certified platinum, and his debut project EP Shmurda She Wrote was certified gold.

Shmurda’s transition to freedom comes 10 months before his original release date. The court, however, offered him an early release because he participated in prison programs and had good behavior. As part of his conditional release, he will remain on parole until 2026.
