On Tuesday (Feb. 23), Bobby Shmurda was released from prison after serving a six-year sentence. Aside from celebrating his release, he can now commemorate the fact that a few of his singles have gone gold and platinum. According to the RIAA, his 2014 single “Hot Nigga” was certified 5x platinum. “Bobby Bitch” was also certified platinum, while his 2014 EP Shmurda She Wrote and “Computers” collaboration with Rowdy Rebel were both certified gold.

On Tuesday, Quavo made sure that his longtime friend and former collaborator left prison in style. The “Workin’ Me” emcee booked a private jet to take Bobby home. He also gifted the newly released rapper with thousands in cash. “Did six and didn’t switch. Welcome home @realbobbyshmurdags9,” Quavo wrote on Instagram alongside a video of Bobby exiting the aircraft.

While he was on the jet, Bobby FaceTimed his mother, Leslie Pollard. The joyous conversation was shared by the @2Cool2Blog on Instagram. “There are no words to explain the JOY in my [heart],” Pollard wrote in an Instagram caption of the video.

She continued, “God knows the way I love my boys and I thank him for bringing them both back to me in one piece the same way they left. I am so overwhelmed and in 6 years 2 months and 5 days and 5.5 hrs, I finally feel like myself again. God is so good and we are truly BLESSED!!!!”

In 2014, Bobby was arrested on gang conspiracy, gun and drug charges. Two years later, he pleaded guilty to 4th-degree conspiracy and 2nd-degree criminal weapons possession and was sentenced to seven years in prison.

His conditional release date was previously moved up to Feb. 23, which is 10 months ahead of the actual end of his sentence. After a judge denied him parole, the Time Allowance Committee reversed the decision and awarded him a conditional release due to his good behavior and program participation while he was incarcerated.

Congrats to Bobby!
