Residents of Texas have been experiencing unprecedented water and power outages since the state was faced with severe winter conditions over the long weekend. With extremely low temperatures following the snowstorm, some families have found it difficult to live in their houses as they are unable to keep warm without electricity. Others have been forced out of their homes due to very bad flooding, and many have resorted to local assistance just to get some bottles of water. In more harrowing accounts, some have even passed away.

Plenty videos of suffering Texans who have been documenting things from their perspective have been posted on social media. They collectively display the severity of the state’s current conditions as well as the lackluster response from government officials.

Actress Alyssa Milano posted footage of residents gathering around a pipe on the ground to collect water. The individuals carried big buckets, but their source barely spit out water. “While the Texas Governor Greg Abbott is on Fox News spreading misinformation about renewable energy, and Ted Cruz is in Cancun, 31 Texans have died & millions are suffering,” she tweeted. “This video should make you angry but we all need to roll up our sleeves & help the good people of Texas.”

Multiple social media posts captured videos of large surges of water ruining their homes. One showed the damage has even been experienced by businesses and healthcare facilities, specifically the Texas Health Presbyterian in Dallas.

Some individuals have been carrying their goods in grocery bags, while others have been staying in their cars.

After little to no efforts from politicians, including Sen. Ted Cruz, celebrities are stepping in to help residents survive. Houston resident Trae the Truth and his Relief Gang organization delivered food to several families. Additionally, Beyoncé’s BeyGOOD Foundation, Adidas and Houston’s Bread of Life are offering up to $1,000 to applicants who fill out their Disaster Relief Assistance Form.
