The Gorilla Glue Company released a statement after Tessica Brown documented her struggles with trying to remove their spray adhesive from her hair.

“We are aware of the situation and we are very sorry to hear about the unfortunate incident that Miss Brown experienced using our Spray Adhesive on her hair,” the statement read. “This is a unique situation because this product is not indicated for use in or on hair as it is considered permanent. Our spray adhesive states in the warning label ‘Do not swallow. Do not get in eyes, on skin or on clothing…’”

The company then listed things that the adhesive should be used for and offered well wishes to Brown after learning that she went to receive medical attention.

“It is used for craft, home auto or office projects to mount things to surfaces such as paper, cardboard, wood, laminate and fabric,” the statement continued. “We are glad to see in her recent video that Miss Brown has received medical treatment from her local medical facility and wish her the best.”

On Feb. 4, Brown went viral after sharing that she used a Gorilla Glue adhesive spray to style her hair once she ran out of her Göt2b Glued spray. In the video, which was shared to TikTok, Brown explained that she tried to wash it out, but “it didn’t move.” Instead, her ponytail kept getting “tighter and tighter.”

After trying to remove the adhesive for two weeks, she sought the help of her family and friends. After their suggestions didn’t work, Brown went to a local hospital to seek medical treatment.

During an interview with Kiss 92.5, Brown said that the nurse attempted to treat her hair with nail polish remover and saline water and the experience was painful. “When she started, it started to burn, so they took the saline water and tried to, you know, cool it off, but it burned so bad to where my heart started beating too fast…,” she explained. “She told me it looked like she could do it, but it’s gonna take at least 20 hours.” Instead, Brown opted to continue the treatment at home and the hospital provided her with the products she needed.
