The nominees for the 63rd Grammy Awards were announced on Tuesday (Nov. 24) and some artists, such as Teyana Taylor, were not pleased with the outcome.

The “Gonna Love Me” singer took to Twitter to express her frustration with the Grammys’ Best R&B Album category, which happened to only consist of male artists. “Y’all was better off just saying best MALE R&B ALBUM cause all I see is dick in this category,” she tweeted. John Legend, Luke James, Ant Clemons, Giveon and Gregory Porter were the five men who were nominated.

Following her tweet, she retweeted several fans who were upset that The Album was not nominated.

“Wow. @TEYANATAYLOR you deserve MANY awards, but this is just the game they play,” tweeted @_issatrip. “Don’t forget your impact, this doesn’t invalidate your success! You knew that tho!”

Twitter user @ThisIsMax tweeted, “Also top of my head @Kehlani @TEYANATAYLOR #SummerWalker jus 3 of many women that dropped incredible R&B albums… how is it dominated with just dudes??? #GRAMMYs.”

“I’m so over the Grammys,” wrote @VictorHardges. “How tf wasn’t @iamjojo or @TEYANATAYLOR nominated? They’ve been releasing quality content since this quarantine started.”

The Album, which was released on Juneteenth, became Taylor’s first top 10 entry on the Billboard 200. The LP featured hit singles such as “Wake Up Love,” “Morning” and “How You Want It?”

Earlier this month, Taylor was recognized alongside Summer Walker, Kehlani and Jhené Aiko as four artists who were “powering an R&B renaissance” with their lyrics and different sounds. “Everyone has their own style and thing going on, but it’s all the same truth,” she said during a virtual roundtable with the other women in October. “We’re still women who have experienced love and heartbreak. It’s dope to hear everyone express that truth in their different ways.”
