This year has seen Russ providing his fans with a seemingly endless stream of music thanks to his freedom as an independent artist. In addition to Shake The Snow Globe (his last release with Columbia Records) and its deluxe upgrade, the producer-artist out of Atlanta has given the world top-quality singles including “Give Up,” “Can’t Be Me,” “Still,” “One More Chance,” “Take You Back” with Kehlani, “Paid Off,” “I Love Me,” and more. Then, he announced a new EP titled Chomp while also taking it back to Big Tigger’s iconic “Rap City” booth for his Ab-Soul assisted banger “Who Wants What.”

Today, Chomp reaches the surface, and — including the aforementioned single — sees five tracks and additional contributions from DJ Premiere, Busta Rhymes, Black Thought, Benny The Butcher, The Alchemist, and 9th Wonder. As Russ makes clear on the opening cut “Stockholm Syndrome,” he’s standing his ground as one of the best emcees in the game, period:

“This is bigger than a post with an irrelevant caption, this is organized knowledge and intelligent action, this is since ‘06, tryna create legacy, boss talks, stocks, real estate and equity/

You fake Pat Beverleys, always tryna shut down Russ, you foul, stay the f*** from round us, ‘cause you can’t f*** with me, so you lie instead, you lazy, you Blacc Chyna head/”

Shake The Snow Globe was originally released in January and boasted 14 tracks with assists from Rick Ross, Kiana Ledé, Devin The Dude, BIA, and more. The project landed Russ within the top five of the Billboard 200 with an impressive 63,000 album equivalent units sold during its first week of release. The deluxe version dropped in May, adding on seven cuts and a couple of new collaborations with Ty Dolla $ign and Boogie.
