Big Sean has a lot celebrate this week as his fifth studio album, Detroit 2, becomes the third No. 1 album he has secured in a row.

The follow-up to 2012’s Detroit mixtape pushed approximately 103,000 equivalent album units in the US upon its release. 30,000 of those units are in pure album sales and 70,000 equivalent units in streams.

To observe the accomplishment, Big Sean expressed gratitude for the feat with a post of him standing under golden balloons that spell out the title of his project: Detroit 2.

“Thank you! I sacrificed my privacy, I put so many emotions and lessons I learned the hard way into this music and gave a honest glimpse into my heart,” Sean captioned on Instagram. “It wasn’t easy, nights I thought of Offing myself cause Life was too heavy, but the lock in was worth it! Had to remember if I’m still here and so many aren’t, it’s for reason. My goal was to inspire YOU to turn yourself up in all ways, Mind, Body, n Soul. Life isn’t promised as we can see, so HAVE FUN and thank you so much for the #1 album for a 3rd time in a row! Let’s KEEP GOING, Why Would I stop?!”

His 2017 album I Decided was the last solo project to hit No. 1 on the charts. In 2015, his double-platinum album Dark Sky Paradise entered the charts at No. 1, too.

Detroit 2 contains features from Travis Scott, Kash Doll, Young Thug, and Nipsey Hussle, who makes a posthumous appearance on the endearing track “Deep Reverence” and caused Kendrick Lamar to reach out with some praise.

“The situation was, he thought that people around him were telling him something, people around me were telling me something, and it just really wasn’t the case,” he revealed on Sway In The Morning. “So, when we were able to talk, it was a good reconciliation and it was a good mutual respect. Even when he heard ‘Deep Reverence,’ he hit me and was like ‘Yo, I appreciate you showing that love. I appreciate that love in the verse. You and Nip went crazy. Y’all gassed on it.’”
