Over the weekend, dancehall/reggae star and OVO Sound artist Popcaan delivered his fourth full-length offering FIXTAPE, a 19-track offering that sees assistance from Stylo G, PARTYNEXTDOOR, Preme, French Montana, Jada Kingdom, and more. The project also sees two appearances from OVO head honcho Drake, on the tracks “Twist & Turn” and “All I Need.” Both singles were previously teased by Popcaan during a past Instagram Live session and are sure to be taking over the radio waves during the rest of the warm weather season, especially with Drizzy breaking out melodic patois like a full-blooded Jamaican:

“Listen, you’ve been missing since 2016, squid tell me gwan fix tings, you know that’s my assistant, when she speak, I listen/

She swears you’re my misses, I say we think different, I, I, I see, why your heart icy, come baby, come, come try me, who you gonna love if you run by me, yeah…/”

FIXTAPE follows Popcaan’s 2019 release Vanquish, which was his first official project for OVO Sound. That release landed Popcaan at the number two spot on Billboard’s Reggae Albums chart during its first week of release. Previously, Popcaan liberated his debut Where We Come From and its follow-up Forever in 2014 and 2018, respectively. He’s also provided a fairly recent slew of features for Davido, Kano, and more.

Drake has remaining busy — and dominant — as well, having released Dark Lane Demo Tapes back in May. Even as a mixtape, the 14-track offering sat comfortable at the number one spot on Billboard with 223,000 album equivalent units, ensuring that the Toronto icon continues to keep his foothold on all of hip hop. Currently, Drake is working on the official follow-up to his fifth studio LP Scorpion, released back in 2018.
