Currently, Big Boi and longtime Organized Noize/Dungeon Family crony Sleepy Brown are said to be putting the finishing touches on their forthcoming collaborative release The Big Sleepover. They’ve also revealed a single from that project last year — the CeeLo Green-assisted “Intentions.” Perhaps as a holdover for the fans as we wait, Big Boi has decided to reach all the way back to his sophomore studio album Vicious Lies & Dangerous Rumors to unearth a vide for “Tremendous Damage,” which he explained on Instagram:

“I went into my vault and pulled out this unreleased video from Vicious Lies and Dangerous Rumors. It seemed appropriate to speak to my people. Video shot by Trevor Kane & Big Boi featuring [Bosko]. RIP to my Father, Chico Dusty.”

Produced by Chris Carmouche, the song sees Big Boi opening up about his father’s death:

“February 28th, the day my daddy died, well, not really, his energy passed to the other side/

And ever since that day I’ve seen him fade away with my own eyes, I never doubted God, the Marine corps they say semper fi/

My daddy fought in Vietnam, this is a fun fact for the bloodline of Antwan Andre/

Just like this song say, I’ve suffered tremendous damage, got me tougher than a motherf***er…/”

Standing by a waterfall, Big Boi can be seen performing the heartfelt track while images of both his late father, as well as shots of himself as a young father, are interspersed throughout.

Released back in 2012, Vicious Lies & Dangerous Rumors saw 14 tracks — 17 if you include the deluxe additions — and appearances from UGK, Big K.R.I.T., Killer Mike, T.I., Ludacris, B.o.B, A$AP Rocky, and more. Since then, the Outkast legend released his Big Grams EP (together with Phantogram) and Boomiverse in 2015 and 2017, respectively.
