So, you’ve already cleaned your place, organized your closet, listened to your favorite songs and podcasts, and are looking for other ways to pass the time while being cooped up during the Coronavirus outbreak. Dominos, spades, and boardgames are cool; but a lot of folks are stuck at home alone.

Video games can be a fun way to kill a few hours of idle time while rolling solo. If you’ve had your fill of “Fortnite,” “Call of Duty,” “Rocket League,” or” NBA 2K,” give these other games a try to help burn some daylight while waiting out the pandemic.

1. “Pokémon”

The latest editions of the “Pokémon” franchise for console arrived in late 2019. The Roll Playing Game (RPG) adventure game is based on the same premise as earlier releases, and involves playing as a trainer, collecting Pokémon, and battling the curious creatures to expand your collection and level them up.

Explore an open world of countryside villages, expansive wilderness, and industrial cities without leaving your room. The games are Nintendo Switch exclusives and will have expansion packs released later this year that include hundreds of additional Pokémon.

2. “Persona 5 Royal”

PS4 users have access to the exclusive “Persona 5” title. The most recent installment, “Persona 5 Royal,” is also an RPG only this one is set in Tokyo.

It takes place at a high school where some students have gained mysterious powers and have become vigilantes that battle treacherous Shadows, while navigating a Metaverse that exists within the collective subconscious.

Players can socialize befriend Confidants that unlock features of the game and provide a way to interact with characters much like people interact with each other in real life. Social distancing doesn’t apply inside this game.

3. “Def Jam Rapstar”

This one’s a throwback to 2010 and is arguably the most entertaining release in Def Jam’s video game catalog. Def Jam Rapstar” is a karaoke-inspired game that lets you rap along to some classic rap songs including Biggie’s “Big Poppa,” “It’s All About the Benjamins (Remix)” by Diddy featuring The Notorious B.I.G., Lil’ Kim, and The Lox; and “Hate Me Now” by Nas featuring Diddy.

The game offers career mode for those looking to master every lyric in the game or party mode for those who want to rap along one song at a time. This game is available on Wii or Xbox 360, otherwise players will have to dust off their PS3 to play this one.

4. “Just Dance”

Are you in need of some cardio during social isolation? The “Just Dance” game series is a fun way to burn some calories and break a sweat, while dancing along to popular songs.

The latest edition, “Just Dance 2020,” includes hits like “I Like It” by Cardi B, Bad Bunny & J Balvin, “Talk” by Khalid, plus “Old Town Road” and “Panini” by Lil Nas X. The best part is the game is available on all platforms and has various difficulty levels.

5. “World War Doh”

Looking for an entertaining game to play on your smart phone while waiting on that food delivery? Jam City’s “World War Doh” is a mashup of head-to-head combat, card game, and battle arena mechanics. Players face off and try to defeat opponents in real time by drawing cards and crafting items out of a play-doh like substance.

Basically, it’s like “Hearthstone,” “Clash of Clans,” and “Minecraft” got put in a blender. The genre-defying game offers in-game purchases, but is 100% free to play on both iOS and Android.

6. “Sea of Solitude”

Sometimes, the best cure for loneliness is to dive all the way in. “Sea of Solitude” follows the main character Kay as she explores a lonely ocean world, while dealing with her isolation.

As her emotions begin to transform her into a monster, she must embrace the light and overcome her feelings of hopelessness, anger, and worthlessness. Sound familiar? “Sea of Solitude” is available on PS4, Xbox One, and PC.

7. “Fe”

One of the hardest parts about being inside all the time is not being able to connect with the great outdoors. “Fe” is an EA Original game that is all about communing with nature.

The objective is to use a cute forest creature to explore the woodland scenery and discover the mystical secrets it has to offer. Watch out, there are robots in these trees that are looking to capture furry critters for some unpleasant experiments.

“Fe” is anchored in a beautifully designed fantasy world that provides both a connection with the wonder of the natural world and an escape from the boredom of being in the house all day. Check it out on Windows, Nintendo Switch, PS4, and Xbox One.
