Tyler Perry has truly been a guardian angel for many people during the COVID-19 pandemic.

According to multiple reports, Perry purchased groceries for senior citizens, during their shopping hour, in 29 Winn-Dixie stores in Louisiana and 44 Kroger stores throughout Atlanta. Perry initially made the donation anonymously and only wanted to be known as the “Atlanta Angel,” but it didn’t take long for the secret to get out.

“We would like to join our customers in thanking Mr. Perry for his kindness and generosity during this unprecedented pandemic,” said Felix Turner, a manager for Kroger’s Atlanta stores. “It was truly a pleasure to see our customers fill with joy and gratitude as the news spread throughout 44 stores across Metro Atlanta.”

Winn-Dixie sent a huge thank you to Perry on Twitter. “Thank you to our friend @tylerperry for paying it forward by purchasing groceries for elderly and high-risk #winndixie customers shopping at Louisiana stores this morning,” the page tweeted. “Winn-Dixie applauds your love for community and sincere generosity. #StrongerTogether #WinningTogether.”

Some of the customers took to social media to thank Perry for his generosity.

One customer tweeted, “@tylerperry Thank you for your kindness today. I went shopping in Metairie, Louisiana this morning and your wave a goodness was felt. You put a smile on face and in my heart. God bless!”

Another tweeted, “@tylerperry Retired NOLA public school teacher who can’t THANK YOU enough for your RAOK this morning at the grocery!!! It means SO much!!! #Gratefulforyourthoughtfulness.”

This isn’t the first act of kindness displayed by Perry during the pandemic.

This past Sunday (Apr. 5), Perry tipped $21,000 to restaurant workers at Houston’s in Atlanta. According to TMZ, Perry is a huge fan of the restaurant and frequently visits to pick up food. After dividing the tip, each restaurant worker took home $500.
