In the late hours of Friday night (March 27), The Weeknd surprised fans with a treat. The 30-year-old singer hopped on Instagram Live and played snippets of his unreleased music.

While sitting in a dark isolated room, The Weeknd bopped his head to the beat. Towards the end of his live-streaming session, the Canada native previewed a track that spoke about missing an ex-lover. Fans went crazy in the comments section and begged the Starboy musician to drop the tunes. Others questioned why the snippets were not included in the singer’s deluxe version of his album, After Hours, which dropped earlier this month.

Over the last couple of weeks, The Weeknd has been quite busy. In addition to dropping his latest LP, he also released a new visual, “In Your Eyes,” on March 23. The Anton Tammi-directed music video depicted a woman in distress who tries her best to break away from the singer’s control.

“In Your Eyes” marks the 10th track on The Weeknd’s After Hours LP. On March 19, Chart Data confirmed that he broke Apple Music’s record for the most album pre-saves. “@theweeknd’s After Hours has broken the record for most pre-saves in Apple Music history. It has been added over 975K times worldwide, could be first album to hit 1 MILLION ahead of release,” the statement read.

During an interview with CR Men magazine in February 2020, The Weeknd confessed that he travels to dark places to tap into his creativity. “I spend most of my days alone now,” he said at the time. “I don’t like to leave my house too much. It’s a gift and a curse but it helps me give undivided attention to my work. I enjoy being a workaholic, I think, or I’m just addicted to it. Even when I’m not working I’m always somehow still working. It distracts from the loneliness, I guess.”
