A 15-year-old girl was brutally attacked by a group of boys on Thursday afternoon (March 5) on the corner of Sterling Place and Utica Avenue in the Crown Heights section of Brooklyn, according to the New York Post. Apparently the beating, which was recorded and has made its’ way around social media, stemmed from a fight the girl had gotten into earlier that day. Sources claim that the girl had a physical altercation with another girl in school, prior to her being attacked by a group of teenage boys.

In the surveillance footage, the large group of boys are seen running towards the girl, jumping, kicking and stomping on her as she laid on the sidewalk. The teen girl was beaten until she was unconscious. One of the teens then snatched her Air Jordan sneakers off of her feet, before fleeing the scene. Reports also said her debit card and cell phone were stolen as well.

The girl suffered bruises and swelling to her face. She was rushed to NYC Health & Hospitals/Kings County with head trauma, but was later released, according to officials.

Five of the boys in connection with the brutal beating turned themselves in at the 77th precinct in Crown Heights with their parents on Friday (March 6), law enforcement sources report. Detectives sought help from the public to identify the teens responsible for attacking the 15-year-old girl.

The NYPD told 1010 WINS on Saturday (March 7) that the five teen boys were charged as minors with robbery and gang assault. The teens charged in the incident include two 14-year-olds, one 15-year-old, one 16-year-old and one 17-year-old. The NYPD, however, says they are still searching for more suspects.

According to ABC 7, the fate of the teen boys who have been charged will be determined in family court.
