Nicki Minaj reveals why she’s never worked with Kendrick Lamar on Queen Radio.

Nicki Minaj just wrapped up the first “Queen Radio” of the new year and per usual, the queen showed a lot of love to her Barbz.

Minaj called a few of her lucky fans up during the radio show and they were given a chance to ask her questions and win Fendi clothing, merchandise, or a trip to “Queen Radio” in the future. One of those fans asked Minaj why she hasn’t collaborated with Kendrick Lamar yet. Minaj jokingly replied that, “he don’t wanna get washed” on a record.

She goes on to say that she respects his craft and hopes that they collaborate together in the near future. “I’m looking forward to collaborating with him one day hopefully because he’s animated and I like the animation and all that stuff,” she said. “But also, he just respects the craft of rap. At this time right now…yeah that’s all I’ll say about that.”

Last Friday (Feb. 7), Minaj released her new single “Yikes.” She says that she was pressured by her fans and the label to release the song after the snippet went viral online. The viral snippet caused Minaj to receive a little backlash over the lyrics about Rosa Parks.

In the song she raps, “This a Mac truck, not a black truck/ When we move tell ‘em, Back up, click c-clack, duck/ Hella bands, pull up, stashed up super facts up/All you bitches Rosa Parks, uh-oh, get your ass up/ Yikes, you a clown, you do IT for likes.”

Many fans thought that the lyrics were disrespectful and hurtful to Parks and what she stood for in the Civil Rights Movement. Minaj addressed the backlash saying, “Had no clue anyone was mad. Don’t care. #Yikes.”

Despite the backlash, the song went No. 1 in multiple countries within five hours of its release. During a Q&A session with her manager Irving Azoff, Minaj told her fans that the song wouldn’t be featured on her fifth studio album. “It’s a setup track, not a single. But it’s new music,” she said.
