DMX is in grave condition, according to reports by TMZ. The news outlet published an article Saturday (April 3) morning claiming the legendary rapper overdosed.

TMZ is reporting that DMX was rushed to a hospital in White Plains, New York where he is in the critical care unit. X apparently has “some brain activity” but he’s in a “vegetative state” and the site says doctors have mentioned he may not make it. An unidentified source told TMZ — which falsely reported Lil Wayne was in critical conditional in 2013 — that the overdose occurred at X’s home on Friday (April 2) around 11 p.m. The article says he suffered a heart attack due to the excessive amount of drugs he consumed.

X’s storied battle with drugs and the law rivals his epic rap career. He’s been admitted to rehab on several occasions, but has not been knowingly receiving treatment since 2019. Who can forget the Dark Man X’s epic Verzuz battle with Snoop Dogg in July 2020? Both dogg-fathers rapped each other’s songs and danced alongside one another in one of the most viewed (at the time) Verzuz matchups.

DMX (born Earl Simmons) dominated the latter half of the nineties with three consecutive chart-topping albums: It’s Dark and Hell is Hot, “Flesh of My Flesh, Blood of My Blood, plus And Then There Was X. Each of those album have been certified platinum multiple times. His last official album, Undisputed, was released in 2012. However, a project titled Redemption of the Beast was unofficially released in 2015. X rejoined Def Jam in 2019 and was working on more music, which he also mentioned during his Verzuz battle. During an episode of “Drink Champs” X said that he was working with Pop Smoke and Griselda on tracks for an upcoming project.

X’s Instagram shows the Ruff Ryders rapper is scheduled t o perform in May at the Rail Club Live venue in Fort Worth, TX and The WildCatter Saloon in Katy, TX. He also has another show scheduled in Fort Wayne, IN on May 28. His longtime collaborator and close friend Swizz Beatz took to Instagram this morning to share a cryptic image of a sunset.

We will continue to provide updates on this matter as more information is provided. For now, let’s keep DMX in our prayers!
