A Boogie is opening up about a lesson he taught his daughter Melody following an encounter with the police.

“So, yesterday in N.J. I got pulled over illegally with my daughter in the car,” he wrote in a text post shared to Instagram. “Now, she hates the police and she’s only three, but I had to tell her that every cop isn’t bad. Not because it’s a fact, because I don’t want my child being scared every time she sees a police officer. Some of them do their job but the bad cops make them all look like monsters. Illegal stops! Illegal searches!”

The “Drowning” spitter’s confession came in the wake of global protests taking place throughout America. During this time, several celebrities have used their platforms to educate fans on how they can help with the cause.

Earlier this month, A Boogie sat down for an interview with Apple Music’s Zane Lowe where he spoke candidly about remaining tight-lipped during the global uprising. He explained that he’s had mixed emotions regarding today’s current climate. “To be honest, I’m having a lot of mood swings with that because there’s so much going on at the same time where a lot of people are looking at one picture,” he said. “I like to look at different perspectives and put myself in different people’s shoes and I feel like everything isn’t right.”

He added, “Even when we try to balance it, we’re not doing it the right way. So that’s why I really wasn’t speaking up that much towards it. But at the same time, I feel the energy, so everything is an iteration in the air at the same time as being a negative vibe. It’s still a positive vibe when you’re bringing it to me.”
