DJ D-Nice is teaming up with former First Lady Michelle Obama to encourage everyone at home during the Coronavirus pandemic to register to vote for the upcoming election.

D-Nice announced the party on Instagram. He captioned the post, “Ready for another party? Excited to team up with @MichelleObama’s @WhenWeAllVote this Wed. Starting at 6:30pm ET on IG Live to play a set while volunteers across the country text eligible voters to help them register to vote. You can sign up to help too: weall.vote/couchparty.”

“As the country’s reality continues to change in the wake of the coronavirus’ ongoing impact on individuals and communities, When We All Vote is committed to exploring innovative and safe ways to reach voters where they are — at home,” Obama’s When We All Vote group said in a statement.

D-Nice recently talked about what lead to his viral virtual party which caught the eyes of over 100,000 viewers including Diddy, J. Lo, Oprah Winfrey, Michelle Obama, Joe Biden, Janet Jackson, Drake, Snoop Dogg, and Ava DuVernay.

In an interview with Gayle King on “CBS This Morning,” he said he woke up at four o’clock in the morning and, “just decided I wanted to throw a party. It was supposed to just be for a few friends on Instagram.”

“I was literally just playing music from my laptop,” he continued. “The next day I hooked up the turntables then I noticed the crowd started to grow. John Legend was in there. I called Dave Chappelle and he jumped in live. The next day J. Lo came, Drake arrived — then that Saturday party was everything. Everyone was there.”

He says that he was most moved when Obama joined the viral party.

“I just froze up,” he said of the moment. “I didn’t know what to play. The music faded and I was like, ‘Oh I know what to play. She loves Beyoncé so I played Beyoncé.”

The virtual party kicks off today (Mar. 25) at 6:30 pm ET on DJ D-Nice’s Instagram account. The goal for the party is to text 50,000 eligible voters by 9 pm ET. If you haven’t done so already, you can register to vote here.
