On Saturday (March 21), celebrity DJ Derrick “D-Nice” Jones hosted an Instagram Live party from the comfort of his home. The live-streamed event featured appearances from REVOLT TV’s chairman, Sean “Diddy” Combs; Drake, Jermaine Dupri, Nia Long and much more.

Other stars who pulled up were legends such as Patti LaBelle, Keith Sweat, Tracee Ellis Ross, Lena Waithe, Snoop Dogg, Kelly Rowland, and more. Ross even made a joke about the line to the women’s bathroom being “crazy” during the social media party.

Another bonus was the icon herself Janet Jackson stopping though! When this happened, Nice couldn’t believe it and bugged out. We couldn’t blame him, though. In her honor, the DJ even started playing some of her classics and the already-lit party went up even more.

Throughout the fun time, D-Nice played feel good records and throwback hits that lifted many fans’ spirits. From Too Short, SWV, JAY-Z, Ludacris and music from so many others, the deejaying highlights didn’t stop. This was much needed at the moment since many people are practicing social distancing as the unfortunate coronavirus pandemic continues.

This isn’t the first time that D-Nice threw a social distancing Instagram Live party. On March 18, the Bronx native held a similar event from his Los Angeles home titled “Homeschoolin’: Social Distancing Dance Party.”

“I never would’ve imagined that the best party I would create and DJ would be from the comfort of my own home. Homeschool is a thing! Yesterday was absolutely insane. The amount of artists and friends that virtually partied with me far exceeded my expectations. I’m feeling nothing but gratitude,” D-Nice wrote in a statement posted to Instagram alongside a photo of himself mixing tracks.

He continued, “This has been a great way to keep our spirits high. Blessings! Sending some love to my family. Shout out to all of my industry execs! Much love to all of the artists!”

Other celebs who turned up at the party along with D-Nice and his followers were Ava DuVernay, MC Lyft, June Ambrose, Gabrielle Union, Kodak Lens, Killer Mike, Will Packer, Will Smith, Sheila E., Jadakiss, Jada Pinkett Smith, Fat Joe, Kerry Washington, Chaka Khan, Usher, Lil Jon, Black Thought, and many more. What can we say? It was the place to be.
